Hello, my name is Quinn.

I was born in 1987 and have been living in Berlin for almost 20 years.

I studied Social Work at ASH Berlin and worked in that field for many years. My background includes working in crisis intervention, homelessness, child and youth welfare/protection, anti-psychiatry, substance use support, and personal assistance for disabled people.

In 2017, Somatic Experiencing® came into my life. As a client, I had tried many different therapy modalities, but this was quite different. The slow pace and the principle of always being with exactly what is there in the moment have left me deeply moved.

Now, nearly 10 years later, I am an SE® practitioner myself and find great joy in accompanying people on their own SE® journey.

What drives me

I have a lot of love for humans and what moves them. My greatest passion is singing karaoke, and if I could, I would bake a cake every day.

I am trans (male non-binary), queer, white, and able-bodied. I am also kink- and SW-friendly, polyamorous, and sex-positive.

What shapes my work: My own experiences, the experiences of the many who came before me, my communities, and their struggles. Some of these have names, such as: Embodied Social Justice, Transformative Justice, Decolonial Perspectives, Queer Feminism, Disability Justice, Mad Liberation, and Class Struggle.

What matters to me in my work

In short:

  • Anti-oppression and anti-discrimination

  • A commitment to lifelong unlearning and relearning

  • Recognising that you are the expert of your own life and experience

  • Accepting that being wrong, making mistakes, and being accountable is part of the process

The longer version:

We are all part of systems that cause us all a lot of harm (even those who profit from them). All these systems of power and dominance, of exploitation and colonisation, of individualism and perfectionism are carried inside us. So they cannot simply be left at the door of our sessions. Furthermore, much of what we have been taught about therapy, and therapy itself, can cause harm.

This knowledge guides my work. For me, this means:

  • Committing to the lifelong and beautiful process of unlearning (without pretending to always know how).

  • Looking for ways and communities that support me in finding and learning new perspectives instead.

  • Remaining aware that transformation and healing usually work better in company and community than alone.

  • Being highly mindful of the therapy setting, my role as a practitioner, and what it means for everyone involved.
